Sunday, October 13 is Ministry Night. We will meet in the Sanctuary at 6 p.m. The different ministries will be explained and we will divide up and go to the ministry of your choice. We will be packing shoeboxes, ministering to the homeless, making items to be distributed to Ocoee Middle School teachers, and doing a project at The Caring Place.  Everyone welcome!

Our Fall Festival will be Sunday, October 27 at 6 p.m. See Chrystal’s article for more information.

The Women on Mission are sponsoring a Chili Supper and Dessert Auction on Tuesday, October 22. Chili will be served from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. You may bid on the cakes from 5:30 to 6:45 and pick them up after the bids are over. Suggested donation is $5.00 per person, children 5 and under eat free. The proceeds will go to the mission trip to Kenya. If you can donate a dessert for the auction, please indicate that on the registration form.

We will be ordaining Chris Turner and Jeff Carson as deacons on Sunday, October 20 in our 6 p.m. service. All ordained men are asked to meet at 4:30 p.m. in the Annex for the Ordination Council.

Dr. Jay challenges all hikers! On Thursday, October 24, we will meet at the church at 8 a.m. to head to the Great Smoky Mountains. We will take the trail to The Chimney Tops. Bring water and a sack lunch. (The hike is 4 miles round trip.) We will stop on the way home for supper. All participants are welcome. Sign up on the registration form if you plan to hike.

October is Spina Bifida Awareness Month. The Seekers Sunday School Class is assisting a fund raising effort for Lauren Jones, a 3 year old with Spina Bifida. She is the granddaughter of Mike and Sue Jones and the daughter of Jesse and Cassandra Jones. She also has Cerebral Palsy and is prone to seizures. Funds are being raised to purchase a Service Dog for Lauren. If you would like to share a gift, contributions may be made through our church office or the Seeker’s Class. Please make checks payable to “Little Miss Lauren.”

Downtown Block Party – Thursday, October 31. We will have a photo booth and we need volunteers to help.  This is an outreach from our church to the community and enables us to establish contact and communication with people we would probably not reach any other way. If you can help, sign up on the registration form.

In order to better accommodate those people in our church family with special needs, the Building and Grounds Committee recently designated the closest two parking spaces to the back door of the Annex for vehicles occupied by people with disabilities.  In addition, on Sunday mornings, two additional spaces along the front of the Annex also will be designated for special needs.  Parking for the disabled can also be found along the south side of the Activity Building and just north of the Welcome Center.

Congratulations to Dave and Barb Olson on the birth of their great granddaughter, Ryland Pizarro on October 1. She weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19 inches long.
