where love is alive

As school begins each year we see evidence of it all around.  There are back to school commercials on television, back to school sales in stores, back to school events, and the list goes on and on, but you get the idea.  We also see on social media special prayers for students, teachers, faculty and staff reminding us to pray for them as they go back to school, and throughout the entire school year.  While our prayers are focused on a new school year, let us not forget to pray for the new church year as well.

Please remember all the teachers of adults, youth, children and preschool as they study and share from God’s Word each week.  Also, pray for our Child Development Center director and teachers as they care for and teach precious preschoolers each day.  Pray for the director and teachers of Big City University as they begin a new year just after Labor Day, and our teachers as we minister to them through AWANA, choir and missions classes.

I recently ran across this prayer for Sunday School teachers.  May we use this as a guide to pray throughout the church year for all of our dedicated teachers who give their time and talents to share the Word of God each week.

Lord please…

  • Fill the teachers with Your Spirit and power to enable them to lead each student to Jesus Christ. Acts 4:31
  • Convict the students’ hearts of sin and call them to repentance and salvation. John 16:8
  • Prepare the students to be laborers of the harvest one day. Luke 10:2
  • Give the students the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Ephesians 1:17
  • Allow the eyes of their hearts to be enlightened.  Ephesians 1:18
  • Strengthen each student and teacher with power through Your Spirit.  Ephesians 3:16
  • Root and ground each student in love and respect.  Ephesians 3:17
  • Help each student to have humility, gentleness, patience and show tolerance for one another in love.  Ephesians 4:2
  • Don’t allow anyone to deceive them with empty words and help them to stand firm when confronted with evil.  Ephesians 5:6

In Jesus’ name, Amen
