where love is alive

School has been in session for a while now, and the children’s activities are in full swing!  Thanks to wonderful teachers and leaders who give their time and talents.  We have many opportunities to minister to our children.  In addition to our regular Sunday and Wednesday classes, we have started an AWANA class for the Big City University students on Tuesday evenings after they are dismissed from BCU.  Earlier this month I attended all three of the Big City University parent meetings to provide information to the families about our children’s ministries and to extend an invitation for the children to participate in our many children’s activities.  As of last week we had 22 BCU students attend the Tuesday AWANA class and 15 BCU students attend our Wednesday choir and missions classes!  I just want to praise God for allowing us the opportunity to have all these ministries available to our own NCBC children, as well as those who are in our building each day for BCU.  God is so good and always faithful!

Looking ahead, Trunk-or-Treat is just around the corner.  Thank you to those who have already signed up to help and have donated candy.  This outreach has grown tremendously in the last two years, and both years we have had to make a candy run halfway through the event.  That is why I started the candy collection earlier this year.  Trunk-or-Treat is definitely one of those “all hands on deck” activities!  We will need you to help with:

  • Registration tables
  • Food preparation and distribution (We will have hot dogs, popcorn, and snow cones)
  • Providing a decorated trunk
  • Monitoring an inflatable
  • Monitoring buildings
  • Directing visitors to restrooms, food area, games, etc.

If you plan to provide a trunk, it is very important you let me know by Sunday, October 21st.  The crowd has been extremely large the last couple years, so I need to make sure we have enough room for everything to flow well.  If you can assist with Trunk or Treat, please indicate on the registration slip what area you would be willing to serve in or contact me at the church office.

Much love and many thanks,

Holly
