where love is alive

Ahhh, that nip of fall breeze is in the air lately, and it makes me so excited for football, bonfires, hoodies and of course our fall celebration events here at North Cleveland!  That means it’s also time for our candy donation that has typically gone for our annual Trunk or Treat outreach.  After reflecting on past Trunk or Treat celebrations, and having missed last year due to the pandemic, I am thinking it is time to make some small changes to fit the growing crowd that continues to attend the event.  So, I would like to present to you the Fall Family Fun Festival!  (I know, that’s a long name!)

Basically, it will still have all the same fun activities that our previous Trunk or Treat had, like costumes and LOTS of candy, but the main difference will be the people handing out candy will decorate a space or booth in the gym to distribute candy to the children.  If you remember the last Trunk or Treat we hosted had to be moved inside due to rain.  I realized then how nice it was to have the lighting in the gym for parents to be able to see their children much easier as it got dark.

Those wishing to visit the candy stations will enter through the front doors of the MAC building, move through the line in the gym to visit each booth then exit out the back door and down the ramp for the rest of the fun.  Outside will be the food, games, prayer tent and inflatables.  I am hoping this will help distribute the crowd and ease the congestion in the parking lot area. I realize some of our people love decorating trunks, so we can have some cars in the parking lot with games for the kids to play and candy for prizes.  Again, that would distribute the crowd and keep the candy line in the gym moving more efficiently.

This is one of our biggest outreach events that needs all hands on deck, and you might be wondering what you can do to help.  We will need people to dress up in costume and decorate a booth to distribute candy, come up with and facilitate a game in the parking lot, be registration workers, help direct guests to the different buildings, and most of all provide LOTS OF CANDY donations!  Be praying about where you feel led to volunteer and we will be gathering that information very soon, but right now we will focus on gathering bags of individually wrapped candy.  There will be containers placed in the Welcome Center, Annex and the vestibule beginning this Sunday, September 19th for you to place the bags of candy.

Thank you again, church family for coming alongside to support our children’s ministries.  You are very much appreciated!                                                  ~ Holly
