My NCBC Story: Betty Baumgardner

1931 to 2021

The Lord’s been so good to me and I am so grateful to have had the privilege of growing up in the house across the street from the North Cleveland Baptist Church.  I remember when our church started as a little shed. And I can remember sitting on the crude benches and kicking my feet in the sawdust shavings.

Brother Lewis saw the need of a church here and a small wooden building was erected. At that time the street in front of the church was not even paved. It was merely dirt with gravels on it.  As the church grew, Sunday School rooms were added to the building and it became a “L” shape.

There was a little persimmon tree right outside the Sunday School rooms. And of course, we all had to try at least one persimmon every year.
