Dr. Jay McCluskey, Pastor — email

A native of East Tennessee, Jay McCluskey was born and raised in Knoxville. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Carson-Newman College and his Master’s of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Jay came to North Cleveland Baptist Church in September of 1986. Prior to arriving in Bradley County, Jay served as pastor of Clearspring Baptist Church in Clearspring, Indiana. In 1991 he completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jay and his wife, Michelle, married in 1983 and are the proud parents of two adult sons, James and John. Jay enjoys all things related to the church, traveling, electronics, and recreational sports.

Lanny Green, minister of worship — email

Born and raised in Michigan Lanny Green moved to Cleveland when he began his Bachelors degree in Music at Lee University in the fall of 1998. He finished his Bachelors degree in Music in the fall of 2002. Lanny began working part time as the Minister of Worship at North Cleveland Baptist in Feb of 2003 while also working on a Master degree in Church Music From Lee University. After finishing his Masters in the Spring of 2004 the church changed his position to full time. While he loves music and singing Lanny also enjoys being out side in God’s creation whether it is hiking in the mountains, riding his bike, or just getting his hands dirty landscaping and working in the garden. Lanny is married to Leah Green who is also a graduate of Lee University with a degree in psychology. They are the proud parents of Levi David Green.

Kevin Hicks, minister of education — email

A life-long resident of Cleveland, TN, Kevin was born into North Cleveland Baptist and has been a member for over thirty years. He graduated from Bradley High School in 1986 and went on to complete a bachelors degree in business at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1991. He later earned a Master’s degree in education at Lee University, graduating in 2005. Kevin has been married to Leslie since November 1997 and are the proud parents of two young children, Isaac and Matilda. He serves as deacon and teaches fifth grade Sunday School. Kevin is also active in music ministries, participating in sanctuary choir, various ensembles, and the handbell choir. He enjoys reading, exercise, and the outdoors. Kevin’s life verse is Isaiah 42:16, “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”

Jason Cox, student minister — email

Jason is married to Dawn Blackwell Cox and has been doing youth ministry for nine years. He graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1996 and then graduated from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1999. He then returned to Bradley Central High School where he has taught for the last nine years. Jason enjoys duck hunting, trout fishing, snowboarding, and running. As a runner, he has completed seven marathons and hopes to do more in the future. His life verse is Galatians 2:20 “For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live; not that I live but christ who lives in me.”

Jean Tucker, pastoral ministry secretary — email

Jean was born in Blount County, Tennessee and moved to Cleveland in 1988. She has been married to Verlin since 1970 and is the mother three grown sons; Brian, Kevin & David, and the grandmother of twin boys, Kaden & Keegan. She has worked at NCBC since 1995 and has served in several areas of ministry. She enjoys reading and travel when time permits.

Kathy Godfrey, financial secretary — email

Kathy grew up in Benton, TN and has lived in Nashville, Louisville, TN and has been in Cleveland since 1975. She has been married to David since 1969 and has two children, Travis and Melinda, a daughter-in-law, Kristine and three grandchildren, Dustin, Hunter, and Madison. She was a Kindergarten Assistant with the Bradley County Schools for 19 years. She served as Director/Bookkeeper of our churches weekday ministry for three years and continued as Bookkeeper for three more years.  She has been on seven short-term Medical/Dental mission trips to Honduras. She  thoroughly enjoys teaching the Kindergarten Sunday School Class each Sunday.

Shirley Boring, membership secretary — email

Shirley was born and raised in this area and graduated from Ooltewah High School. She is married to Ed Boring and they celebrated 40 years of marriage in August 2009. They have four grown children, all married and 6 grandchildren. Their family joined North Cleveland Baptist in October of 1993 and Shirley has been on staff here since March 2007. Her hobbies include scrapbooking and cardmaking. She and Ed love visiting their children in all the different places they live and have lived.

Amanda Holder, director of preschool ministries — email

Amanda and her husband, Josh, live in Copperhill, TN. They enjoy traveling, eating good food, watching movies, and spending time outdoors. In her spare time, Amanda pursues hobbies of scrapbooking, photography, and making jewlery. Amanda received a BA in English from Lee University in Spring 2005, and she is currently pursuing a MAT in early childhood at the same university. She has been working with preschoolers for over a decade, and she has a passion for teaching them about God’s love.
